Located in fashionable Ranelagh Village, just a short walk from the City Centre, Ranelagh Rooms is the perfect place from which to explore the city. The Grafton St Area (Dublin’s premier shopping district) is a pleasant 15 minute stroll (or 2 stops on the Luas), and you will find many of Dublin’s most popular cafes, restaurants and independent boutiques in nearby Ranelagh Village.

Note: Please be aware that there is a freeway directly outside Ranelagh Rooms at certain daytime hours during weekdays, and if you park there at those times you will be clamped. Always check the street signs before leaving your car. If in doubt, park on Dartmouth Road.

The easiest way to pay is by downloading the Parking Tag App from the app store. Note: you will need an Irish phone to do this - it is not currently possible to download with a foreign phone.

If you can't download the app you can make a One-Time Parking Payment by sending an SMS.

Check the parking signs to see what zone you are parking in, (Yellow, Red, White, Green, Orange or Blue), then text 53311 (or +353 8706 02275 if you are not using an Irish phone number) using the format PARK ZONE MINUTES CAR REG (e.g. Park Yellow 60 121D12345).

You will then receive an SMS response with instructions to call an automated phone system to complete payment by credit or debit card. Please ensure that your parking has been validated before terminating the call.

Dublin Airport is easily accessible from Ranelagh Rooms, being just a 14km drive away. If you are travelling by car or taxi at peak times (or in a rush), it is advisable to take the Port Tunnel. You can find information on the tolls payable here.

AIRPORT CAR HIRE

The below Car Hire Companies operated from Dublin Airport. You can find them in the Terminal 1 Arrivals Hall and the Terminal 2 Multi-Storey Car Park.

If you would rather pick up a car after you arrive there is a Hertz Car Hire a 15 minute walk away at 2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4.

ARRIVING

Taxis are available at the Taxi Rank outside the Arrivals Terminal. Expect to pay in the region of €25-€35, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.

To book a taxi to the airport, you can book a taxi using the MyTaxi App, or with one of the local taxi companies below.

Tip: Tell your taxi driver the name of your room and let him know that he can contact you directly via the intercom at the front door.

BUSES

There is a regular Bus Service and 2 Fast Track Services to and from the Airport all within a 10 minute walk of Ranelagh Rooms. As you would expect the Fast Track options are faster and more expensive.


NUMBER 16 BUS

The number 16 bus is a regular bus that goes to the airport. Be aware that it stops at every bus stop and so takes a lot longer than the Express options. The fares are €3.30 for an adult and €1.40 child.

When you get off the bus walk 200m up Camden St Lower in the direction the bus is traveling (out of town). Turn left onto Harcourt Road. Walk for 100m then turn right onto Charlemont St. Walk 300m down Charlemont St until you come to the canal. Cross over the bridge and continue straight along Ranelagh Road for another 180m until you come to Ranelagh Rooms. 

 

TO THE AIRPORT

Get On: Stop No 7347 (Terminal 1 & 2)
Get Off: Stop No 1352 (Camden St / Grantham St)

Come out of Ranelagh Rooms and turn left onto Ranelagh Rd. Cross over the canal onto Charlemont St and continue until you come to a T-Junction and can’t walk any further. Cross the street at the lights and turn left. Walk 100m down Harcourt Road, then take the first right onto Camden St Upper. Walk 170m down Camden St Upper until you come to bus stop no 1352. (It is on the far side of the road).


757 AIRLINK EXPRESS

The 757 Airlink Express is a Fast Track Dublin Bus to and from Dublin Airport and Charlotte Way. Fares are €6 for an adult (€10 return) and €3 for a child (€5 return).

Walk East along Charlotte Way towards Harcourt St (in the same direction as the traffic). Turn right onto Harcourt St and walk a few meters until you come to Harcourt Road. Turn right and almost immediately cross the street at the traffic lights. You are now on Charlemont St. Walk 300m down Charlemont St until you come to the canal. Cross over the bridge and continue straight along Ranelagh Road for another 180m until you come to Ranelagh Rooms.

AIRCOACH (ROUTE 700)

Aircoach provide a Fast Track bus service to and from Dublin Airport and Leeson St for €8.50 (or €8 if you book online).  Buses run every 15 minutes from 04:30hrs to 23:59hrs, and every 30 minutes from 00:00hrs to 04:30hrs.

Turn left onto Dartmouth Road and walk all the way down until you come to Ranelagh Road. Ranelagh Rooms is directly across the street.

GoCar

GoCar is a car sharing company that allows you to book a car and pick it up from locations all over the city.

There is a once off signup fee of €50 to join, after which it is €5 per month on a 30 day rolling contract. You then pay per hour and per kilometer. Prices start at €2.49 per hour, depending on the length of the booking, and includes insurance and free parking throughout the city.

GoCar Members can pick up their rental at the nearby Northbrook Road GoCar pick up station.

DUBLIN BIKES

Dublin Bikes are a fun and convenient way to get around the city centre. The nearest Dublin Bike Station is just one block away, across the canal at the Charlemont Dublin Bike Station. You can buy a 3 Day Ticket for €5, or an annual subscription for €20, after which you can use any Dublin Bike throughout the city. The first half hour of use is free, after which a service charge applies. You can sign up to use the service at any credit card enabled Terminal around the city. (Note: Only certain Terminals are credit card enabled. The nearest one is at Wilton Terrace).

Come out of Ranelagh Rooms and turn left. Cross over the canal and turn right onto Charlemont Place and you will see the Dublin Bike Station.

WILTON TERRACE TERMINAL

Walk 550m down Camden St, then turn left onto Kevin St. Walk 550m down Kevin St, then turn right onto Francis St. Walk all the way down Francis St, then cross over Thomas St and continue down St Augustine St until you come to the river. Turn left onto Usher’s Quay and continue for 1km. Cross over the river at the Sean Heuston Bridge and continue along Parkgate St until you come to the Phoenix Park entrance. Phoenix Park Bikes are just inside the entrance on the left.

Come out of Ranelagh Rooms and turn left onto Ranelagh Rd. Cross over the canal onto Charlemont St and continue until you come to a T-Junction and can’t walk any further. Cross the street at the lights and turn left. Walk 100m down Harcourt Road, then take the first right onto Camden St Upper. Walk 550m down Camden St, then turn left onto Kevin St. Walk 550m down Kevin St, then turn right onto Francis St. Walk all the way down Francis St, then cross over Thomas St and continue down St Augustine St until you come to the river. Turn left onto Usher’s Quay and continue for 1km. Cross over the river at the Sean Heuston Bridge and continue along Parkgate St until you come to the Phoenix Park entrance.

Come out of Ranelagh Rooms and turn left onto Ranelagh Rd. Cross over the canal and turn right. Walk 200m along the canal, then turn left onto Harcourt Terrace. Cross over the road and turn left. Walk 50m along Adelaide Road, then turn right onto Earlsfort Terrace. Walk 700m until you reach the far corner of St Stephen’s Green, then turn right onto Merrion Row. Continue for 130m, then take the first left onto Merrion St Upper. Continue past Merrion Square, cross the road onto Merrion Street Lower and follow the road round to the left along Lincoln Place. Turn right onto Westland Row and continue straight for 550m until you come to the river (the road changes name to Lombard Street East). Cross over the Sean O’Casey Bridge and turn right onto Custom House Quay. Walk for 120m, then turn left onto Commons St, then turn right onto Mayor St Lower where you will find the IFSC.

Cross the street at the lights and turn right, then almost immediately turn left onto Harcourt St. Continue straight down Harcourt St, past St Stephen’s Green and you will arrive at the top of Grafton St. Walk all the way down Grafton St, pass by Trinity College, then continue down Westmoreland St. Cross over O’Connell St Bridge and walk all the way down O’Connell St, until you come to Parnell Square. Turn right and walk 350m along Parnell St, then turn left at Gardiner St. Turn right at Mountjoy Square and continue to the end of Charles St Great. Turn left onto North Circular Road, and walk for 80m before turning onto St Margaret’s Avenue where you will see the stadium.
